The Southern New Jersey Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. (NCBW SNJ) hosted its Journey to STEAM Conference on March 21, 2026, at Rowan College of South Jersey’s Gloucester County Campus, with support from NJ STEM. The program engaged 30 girls in grades 5–8 from across Camden, Salem, and Gloucester counties in hands-on, interactive learning experiences.

Designed to introduce participants to careers in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM), the conference featured dynamic workshops led by professionals who shared their educational and career journeys. Students explored real-world applications of STEAM through activities such as examining a real heart, creating media projects, and discovering practical uses of math in everyday life.

Despite an unexpected change in programming, the event remained highly impactful. Participants were engaged, curious, and eager to learn, gaining confidence and a deeper understanding of STEAM pathways. The program highlighted the importance of access, representation, and early exposure in inspiring future leaders and innovators.
