Enginuity STEM Experience: Design, Assemble, and Take Home Your Own STEM Kit!

Hosting Organization: Hack Foundation (Enginuity STEM)

County: Somerset

Enginuity STEM, part of the Hack Foundation, hosted an NJ STEM Month event that gave students the opportunity to build their own STEM kits—ranging from automatic irrigation systems to AI-powered camera code. Through the program, students explored electronics not typically accessible in traditional classrooms and gained hands-on experience with sensors, circuits, microcontrollers, and Arduino programming in C++.

The workshop, offered through a mix of virtual and in-person sessions, allowed participants to build confidence, collaborate with peers, and receive guidance throughout the engineering process. Students were encouraged not only to follow instructions, but to understand the underlying concepts behind their projects.

By the end of the program, students walked away with completed projects to continue developing, along with a stronger understanding of how technology applies to real-world challenges. The program also introduced “Enclosure,” a follow-up opportunity focused on developing CAD skills to design and build functional enclosures for their creations.
