Hosting Organization: Hackettstown High School Computer Science Club

Students in grades 5 to 8 from the Hackettstown Public Schools district and its sending districts participated in a four-session coding event using Scratch. The event was led by mentors from the high school computer science club. These high school students taught lessons on different aspects of coding and facilitated activities and practice exercises throughout the sessions. In the final session, participants created their own games and had the opportunity to share them with parents and fellow students.
The event also included a time for students and mentors to enjoy snacks while discussing opportunities in computer science at the high school. To commemorate their achievements in Scratch, each student received a certificate and a t-shirt. Overall, everyone involved enjoyed a wonderful experience of learning and mentorship.
