Space Family Build Night Inspires Future Explorers

After attending Air Camp this past summer, Samantha Selikoff, Technology and STEM Teacher at Thomas Jefferson Middle School, was inspired to continue expanding her space education journey by attending the Space Educators Exploration Conference (SEEC) in Houston—an event highly recommended by fellow Air Camp participants.

The conference brought together educators from around the world, including Japan and Scotland, and offered behind-the-scenes access to NASA’s Mission Control and Neutral Buoyancy Lab. The experience sparked new ideas that Selikoff incorporated into her STEM Family Build Night, a space-themed event supported through both DonorsChoose funding and the NJ STEM Month Mini Grant. Families participated in a variety of hands-on building challenges inspired by activities and concepts shared at SEEC.

Selikoff’s students were eager to learn about her trip and see photos from NASA, fueling their own curiosity about space and STEM careers.
