On Saturday, March 21, UAG’s STEAMworks Maker’s Space opened its doors to the Bridgeton community for its annual Maker’s Day event. At this free event, ten local nonprofit and business partners came together to offer STEAM-based projects for community members.
Century Bakery, a local business, helped participants decorate their own spring-themed cupcakes or cookies. A neighborhood Girl Scout troop taught tin punching, while American Littoral Society provided education about Delaware Bay horseshoe crabs and guided participants in making wildflower seed bombs.
In the STEAMworks wood shop, woodworkers demonstrated woodturning on the lathe and laser etching. The STEAMworks sound recording studio was also open for kids and adults to showcase their vocal talents. The stop-motion animation studio, LEGO robotics studio, and virtual reality game zone were also available for participants to explore.
Community partners included:
- American Littoral Society
- Stronger Families Initiative
- Unidos Para La Familia
- Girl Scouts of the USA (Troop 94230)
- Century Bakery
- What’s Good With Isaiah

It was a day of fun and learning for everyone!
