Telescope Workshop

March 10, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Did you get a telescope for Christmas? Looking to buy a new telescope? Just want to learn the basics of telescope operation? Join Rowan University Astronomy faculty at 9:00 a.m. for a 2-hour telescope workshop that will teach you the ins and outs of telescope operation.

Get an introduction to telescopes with the planetarium show, Two Small Pieces of Glass. Four hundred years ago, a simple adjustment to a child’s spyglass revealed for the first time an infinite and perplexing universe to our eyes and imaginations. Join us today, as the world’s great telescopes, born of that serendipitous moment, gaze farther into the distant past – and into our future.

After the show, we’ll help you determine which telescope is right for you with a look at the best telescopes for beginners. Learn about the basic types of amateur telescopes, accessories and more.

This workshop is limited to the first 50 attendees. Register in advance to guarantee your spot. Registration is $5 per person.

Two lucky winners will get to take home a Galileoscope as a door prize. The Galileoscope is a high-quality telescope kit created by astronomers, optical engineers, and science educators and donated by the Edelman Planetarium.

Location:

Edelman Planetarium at Rowan University, 201 Mullica Hill Rd, Glassboro, NJ 08028
