NJ STEM Month Celebration! Light Up Martian Landers

March 20, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Reach for the stars and explore! In this program girls in 2nd through 5th grade will learn how robotics can be used to go where humans cannot. Participants will gather information on real-life space robotics by hearing from members of our Astronomy Club, who will share news from NASA on the Mars Perseverance Rover — a spacecraft recently sent to collect data from Mars. Girls will then be presented with a made-up problem encountered during a discovery on the Red Planet. From there, they will be tasked with designing and testing the best rover to solve the problem and complete the mission. Participants will explore solutions using the design thinking process used by professional engineers. Girls will also explore circuitry that will help solve the problem for the rover using LED lights, resistors, and a power source. All materials are included and will be mailed two weeks prior to the session.
