Jupiter-Saturn Conjunction Live Stream

Jupiter-Saturn Conjunction Live Stream
December 21, 2020, 6 PM EST

Join the Edelman Planetarium at Rowan University and students in the Physics and Astronomy Club for a chance to view an extremely rare astronomical event. On this night the planets Jupiter and Saturn will be less than 1/5 the width of the Moon in the sky. With the naked eye, both will visibly merge, producing a magnificent bright star. Through the telescope, we will be able to observe both planets at the same time! The last time this happened was in 1623, only 15 years after Galileo used the telescope for the first time.

The planets will set soon after sunset, but we will continue observing objects as time and weather permit. Also visible tonight is the Moon, the Great Orion Nebula, Uranus, and more.

Up to 300 guests will be able to join our ZOOM session. We will also be live streaming the event to Facebook.

Streaming will begin at 6:00 pm ET.
