A Sustainable Future’s Climate Convention is a 4-day dual conference and fundraising event to collect data, raise awareness, and expand the ASF Network. At this event, ASF will educate attendees through a variety of manners and rotation of stations. First, we plan to bring in panel speakers to discuss current environmental matters and workshop ways to become upstanding, responsible citizens of the environment. We currently have a few speakers lined up from the Green Schools Alliance, Project Green Schools, as well as our local watershed ambassador. Students will also be delivering their own sustainability-oriented or environmentally-themed presentations and compete for the chance to win prizes.
During the first two days of the Climate Convention, ASF will be hosting hands-on activities to promote concepts of sustainability, namely via tote bag and t-shirt upcycling sessions as well as card and natural dye making. ASF will be further engaging students in an infographic-making competition, where the winning students get to print out large banners of their infographic to hang up in the school and/or the local Environmental Action Club’s room.
Through this experience, attendees will emerge with a more complex understanding of the role they play for the environment. The ultimate mission is to inspire the environmental activists within us all.
