Jobs of the Metaverse

Hosting organization: Latinos in Coding

Counties: Bergen & Hudson

Total Attendees: 88

On March 23, 2023, in collaboration with the NJ STEM Pathways Network, Latinos in Coding organized an hour-long Metaverse event aimed at engaging students in a discussion about the
future of technology and the emerging job opportunities in the metaverse. The event was part of NJ STEM Month, a statewide initiative aimed at promoting STEM education and careers. The event took place in a specially designed Metaverse classroom that provided an immersive and interactive learning experience. Students from across New Jersey were invited to join us in the Metaverse classroom, where we discussed various topics related to the Metaverse, including Web 3.0, artificial intelligence, avatars, and Metaverse jobs. The event started with a brief introduction to Web 3.0 and how it is set to transform the internet as we know it. We then moved on to the topic of artificial intelligence (AI) and how it is becoming increasingly important in a wide range of industries, including education. We discussed the different types of AI and the skills that students will need to develop to succeed in this field. Next, we explored the concept of avatars and how they are being used in the Metaverse to represent individuals and facilitate communication and interaction. We discussed the importance of creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork in the Metaverse, and how these skills will be crucial for success in future Metaverse jobs. Throughout the event, students had the opportunity to ask questions and participate in discussions, creating an inclusive and collaborative environment that fostered engagement and learning. By the end of the event, students had gained a deeper understanding of the exciting new opportunities that the Metaverse and Web 3.0 technologies are bringing to the world, as well as the skills and competencies that they will need to succeed in this new digital landscape. The NJ STEM Month Metaverse event was a great success, providing a unique and engaging learning experience that sparked the imagination and curiosity of students and helped to prepare them for the exciting opportunities of the future. We look forward to organizing more events like this in the future and continuing to promote STEM education and careers across New Jersey.
