Learners Impacted: 900

Families in grades K-5 attended one of three STEM Family Engagement Nights, where they were inspired by the picture book Rosie Revere, Engineer, read aloud by a Delran STEM teacher. Parents learned about the ideas of growth mindset, and how to use questions to encourage their children through a challenge, rather than simply giving an answer. Attendees practiced these new skills as the families engaged in a series of design challenges with LEGO building blocks, and shared out obstacles they overcame as they worked. Parents learned about resources for supporting their children’s STEM learning at home. The evening wrapped up with the “keynote listener’s” address, reiterating the important role parents play in supporting young STEM learners.
