Cumberland Engineering Club’s Annual Escape Room | New Jersey STEM Month Event

Hosting Organization: Cumberland County College
Event Date: 3/12 – 3/30
Total Attendees: 12 volunteers built and operated the Escape Room for 108 participants

Cumberland College’s Engineering Club, under the supervision of Dr Majid Noori and Dr Cortney Bolden, designed, constructed, and operated an Escape Room within the college’s Fine and Performing Arts Gallery space. This year’s theme was “Escape the Nuclear Meltdown!” Participants worked in teams of 4 to 8 players, and they had to solve various mechanical, logical, and electrical puzzles to progress through and eventually unlock the exit for the two-chambered room. Volunteers from the Engineering Club monitored participants on video surveillance equipment that they installed, on computers which they configured for this event, and provided an occasional clue for participants who got stuck. For the second year running, Cumberland’s young engineers have had a chance to apply their knowledge and provide an entertaining challenge for the public!
