The Cliffside Park School No. 3 NJ Makers Day Fair was a huge success. The event was held on Friday, March 24, 2023 8:45 a.m. until 2 p.m.. The event serviced over 400 students and staff in
grades K-4, including students with special needs and English Language Learners. At the event, each activity was stationed at a different table and students had the freedom to roam around, find the activity that was just right for them and take a seat at the table. Having the freedom of choice really allowed the students to participate in the activities they wanted to the most and that made them feel as if it was their best day ever. Once they reached the tables with the activities, they were even more excited. At the event, students participated in a Legos station in which they built at their own pace with the assistance of the older students, planting flower and vegetable seeds for the school garden and to take home as well. They learned about sewing skills and practiced using materials at the table. The arts and crafts table had a variety of activities that including decorating cigar boxes, coloring and painting crafts and creating beaded jewelry bracelets. The STEM/3D building area made paper circuits using copper foil tape, LED lights and batteries and also created 3D images using marshmallows and toothpicks. The Robotics table was able to make Scribble Bots using motors, electrical wires, markers and batteries. All students that participated in this event had never participated in an event like this before and were very eager and excited to have this amazing opportunity.
