Ten young women in 7th and 8th grades from the Flemington-Raritan Regional School District attended the annual Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory’s Young Women’s Conference in STEM on Thursday, March 13th, 2025. The one-day conference led by Senator, Dr. Andrew Zwicker, head of strategic relationships at PPPL, and the PPPL Science Education team consisted of STEM talks and activities including:
Hands-on Learning focused on interactive experiments and meetings with scientists from across a variety of STEM fields.
Chemistry Demo allowing students to join an amazing team of chemists from Princeton University as they explore the wonders of chemistry!
A Career Panel focused on women in various stages of their STEM career sharing their experiences and answering questions from the audience about their career paths.
Additionally, the Keynote Speaker, Professor, Dr.Inès Montaño from Northern Arizona University spoke about their own cutting-edge research and discussed their personal journey as a STEM professional.
Students also attended the Women in Engineering Award Ceremony which highlighted the achievements of numerous local women in STEM.
The day was a huge success and students walked away feeling inspired to continue their studies and exploration in STEM and share their new learning with their peers.
